LTDA-MAC v2.0: Topology-Aware Unsynchronized Scheduling in Linear Multi-Hop UWA Networks

This paper investigates the use of underwater acoustic sensor networks (UASNs) for subsea asset monitoring. In particular, we focus on cases involving deployment with line topologies, e.g., monitoring oil and gas pipelines. The Linear Transmit Delay Allocation MAC (LTDA-MAC) protocol facilitates efficient packet scheduling in linear UASNs without clock synchronization at nodes. It is based real-time optimization a schedule given network deployment. this paper, present novel greedy algorithm LTDA-MAC schedules. produces collision-free schedules significantly shorter frame duration, 2–3 orders magnitude more computationally than our previously proposed solution. Simulations pipeline scenario show that, despite no synchronization, equipped outperforms Spatial TDMA.
